Legends trace the origin of the game to Chinese emperor Yao (2337–2258 BC), who had his counsellor Shun design it for his son, Danzhu—supposedly an unruly sort—to teach him discipline, concentration and balance. The game is now played all over the world.

The longest running game we know about is 2 and a half years!!!

This is a classic, beautiful Go set packed in a polished genuine leather box featuring a lively Ming Dynasty street scene drawing. The stones are made of glass and the board is made of wood with leather stretched over it.

There are two wooden trays included for holding the pieces.

Go is a strategic board game for two players. It is also known as igo (Japanese), weiqi (Chinese) or baduk (Korean). Go is noted for being rich in strategic complexity despite its simple rules.

The game is played by two players who alternately place black and white stones (playing pieces, now usually made of glass or plastic) on the vacant intersections of a grid of 19×19 lines. The object of the game is to control a larger portion of the board than the opponent.
