Stunning Backgammon Set board!
About this Backgammon Board Set (chess pieces not included)
Mosaic inlaying is a very time consuming process that involves cutting small even pieces of coloured wood (lemon, rosewood, walnut amd olive veneer) and fixing them in precise fashion to form a brilliant vintage look. The backgammon pieces are inlaid by hand into the walnut base in beautiful mosaic designs.
The Bakgammon board folds in half for easy transport and there is plenty of room inside to store your games pieces. One side is a beautiful mosaic chess board inlaid with Mother of Pearl, while the other side is a mosaic decorated backgammon game board.
Completely hand made Backgammon Set with no mass production involved. Beautifully and painstakingly crafted in the country from which Backgammon became famous.
This Backgammon Board will take you back in time and into the Palace of Rulers and Kings.

The game of backgammon is first mentioned in Bhartrhari’s Vairagyasataka (p. 39), composed around the late sixth or early seventh century AD.
The use of dice for the game is another indication of its Indic origin, since dice and gambling were a favorite pastime in ancient India. The rules of the game, however, first appeared in the Middle Persian text Wızarisnı Catrang ud Nihisnı New Ardaxsır (Explanation of Chess and Invention of Backgammon), composed in the sixth century during the rule of the Sasanian king Khosrow I (530–571).
The text assigns its invention to the Persian sage Wuzurgmihr (Arabic/Persian) Buzarjumihr/Bozorgmehr, who was the minister of King Khosrow I, as a challenge for the Indian sages.
